BALEARIA awards AAGE HEMPEL CRAME comprehensive maintenance of the bridge equipment of its entire fleet
The contract covers maintenance of the navigation, communication and marine safety bridge equipment of a total of 15 vessels operated by Balearia, including HSCs, SuperFast ferries, comprising ro-ro ships and conventional passenger ships.
According to Alberto Olmos, General Sales Manager at Aage Hempel Crame, “two factors have been of great importance in obtaining a maintenance contract with such characteristics: the strategic location of our offices and the concept of multi-brand technical service. Indeed, Aage Hempel Crame has technical assistance centres in Barcelona, Valencia, Palma de Mallorca and Algeciras, all major operating ports for the shipping company. On the other hand, our technicians follow training provided directly by the manufacturers, such as Raytheon, Furuno, JRC, Sailor, Jotron and Sperry, brands ordinarily found on Balearia’s vessel bridges.”
Aage Hempel Crame shall implement its new AMI model of comprehensive assistance that will enable Balearia to outsource practically all its monitoring and technical maintenance tasks at a fixed monthly cost per vessel.
According to Guillermo Alomar, Balearia’s Fleet Manager, “from the beginning, Aage Hempel Crame’s proposal has been oriented towards optimising our operating and administrative expenses by outsourcing the maintenance costs of bridge equipment. Today this is important for us, since shipping companies are trying hard to focus their resources on the value-creating part of their activity. Balearia’s business is to transport passengers and freight, its positioning being based on the punctuality of fast and eco-efficient voyages”.
The contract was executed in late February at the shipping company’s headquarters in Denia.
